Description of the painting by Gustav Klimt “Waiting”
The mosaic for the Waiting dining room is a decorative addition to the architectural design of the palace. In general, the mosaic consists of nine basic elements, but this one is considered the main one.
It depicts a dancing girl, in whose image Japanese features are clearly visible. This was the main wish of the customer. This was explained by the fact that in the possession of the family there were many exhibits of Oriental art. Therefore, this direction of the decor was chosen for a reason. The girl’s robe is made up of a multitude of pyramids, each of which shows an ornament – a symbol of infinity. Thanks to this ornament, all components of the mosaic are organically combined with each other.
In the center you can see the famous tree of life. Such a creation, of course, generates a lot of feelings and emotions from the contemplative. It is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. A tree is a unique representation of a road, on which there are many paths and small paths. After all, everyone knows that the path to the goal will never be direct and easy. To emphasize this, the branches of the tree were shown twisted in a spiral.
On the one hand, the plot is simple and clear, and on the other, you can see the depicted stones – obstacles in the way of a person. On the branches sits a bird, represented in dark colors. They are a symbol of great danger. A motive is a kind of reminder that Life and Death are inextricably linked. It is worth noting that this work was one of the last major orders of the great master.
