Description of the painting by Mikhail Vrubel “Roses and Lilies”
Mikhail Vrubel performed this work on order for the design and decoration of the interior. The remarkable structure of the picturesque and colorful mural, whose task will be to solve the filling of the entire ceiling space.
In this picture, the characteristic features of the talent of Vrubel himself stand out. Namely, the uniqueness of thinking and the ability to notice the beauty in the ordinary natural things surrounding it. Not everyone is able to see the beautiful around him. He just looks, but does not notice.
Based on one of the most skillful and popular motifs – the talents of Flora, the artist dared to suggest his personal interpretation of this subject.
The images he embodied in life are not only beautifully beautiful and real, but they also carry in themselves a share of political meaning that Mother Nature presents to us.
And as a background, Vrubel chose not just ordinary garden greens, which many artists so liked to paint on their canvases, but he was able to transfer the mysterious celestial mist that preserves no less than mysteries and mysteries than the flowers themselves.
Accurate display of colors full of vibrant essence and movement. And the generosity of restrained shades in combination with the technique of transmitting small strokes of the master creates in the picture a resemblance to a mosaic of precious stones.
The artist makes two discoveries at once. He notices in nature that which no one has seen before, and he conveys all this fantastic beauty in such a way that it seems to be real and tangible to the viewer.
Vrubel’s loyalty to realism is a symbolic faith for himself. He drew inspiration from natural structures. Basically it was of course various types and shades of flowers. To bring this painting to life, he took inspiration from roses and lilies.
