Description of the painting by Alexei Savrasov “Landscape with a rainbow”
Unusual creative fate Alexei Savrasov began at a time when the young man was twenty-four years old. Becoming an academician, he continued to work hard in order to have time to finish writing the painting “The Rooks Have Arrived” to present it at the 1st Mobile Exhibition. Undoubtedly, she was rated by critics and the jury as one of the best paintings of our time. This event determined the significance of the author in Russian art of the mid-nineteenth century.
Already by this time the artist, and by combining the teacher, won his authority in the Moscow artistic environment.
They were painted many pictures, however, none of the paintings could overshadow the delightful charm of this work. The beauty of nature in the painting “Landscape with a Rainbow” is transmitted unusually fresh and clean. It seems like the air is clear. Despite the fact that the sky is covered with gray colors, the rays of a multicolored cheerful rainbow stretching upward give the general grayness some kind of magic joy and fill life with colors. The gloomy sky gradually recedes into the distance, and the white birds soar happily in the sky. Light colors of the firmament come in, filling the entire surface with light, penetrating through the spruce trees and trees that stretch up to the rainbow.
This picture is devoid of the features of sentimentalism and panorama effect, which is what distinguished Savrasov from other artists. He was inherent in the method of execution of the landscape in a realistic style. He chose just a compositional perspective, he liked to experiment with complex tonal transitions and muted colors.
To convey the emotional state of nature, having an excellent developed sense of sensitivity, the canvas in the artist’s hands turned into an “expressive story” that tacitly described a man’s whole-hearted love in his native land.
