Description of the painting by Alexei Savrasov Country View

The painting, created by Alexei Kondratievich Savrasov in 1867, is currently kept in the Moscow State Tretyakov Gallery of Art. Savrasov’s unique compositional-spatial solution for those times could not have attracted the attention of art critics who rated the work of Alexei Savrasov very highly. The rich colors used by the artist fill the picture with airy space, the viewer feels like a breath of wind moving the crowns of the trees.

All elements of the composition are in harmony with each other: you can observe the technical similarity of writing apples, the roof of a dilapidated barn, the fence of the courtyard. The daily life of a simple person is depicted on the lyric canvas “Rural View” – we see a hardworking beekeeper leaning toward an extinguishing fire near beehives.

The immense expanse of the Russian lands is depicted by Savrasov thanks to the writing out of the slopes against the background of the main composition, green meadows, bird flight, tired milky sky – all this expands the boundaries of the viewer’s view. The canvas “Countryside” is considered to be lyrical, because it allows you to use emotional perception when considering the picture.

The viewer feels his involvement in everything portrayed, the ancient motives of serving the earth, worshiping nature, respect for her and careful storage of all her wealth – this is what we see on Alexey Kondratievich Savrasov’s canvas in all colors.
