Description of the painting by Ivan Shishkin “Flowers at the edge of the forest”
No wonder they say that Shishkin is a painter of the Russian forest. Perhaps this is the most correct definition of paintings by the great painter. How many different and diverse! And everything seems to be nothing – a simple forest, but not here. Shishkin’s forest is not simple, but full of beauty and mystery, full of stunning colors and shades.
All this artist incredibly reliably conveys to us from the canvases and there is such a pleasant sensation of saturation, delight and personal presence in the places that he portrayed. That’s the same with this canvas.
We are on the edge of the forest. This is the most beautiful glade, because the bright sun often penetrates here and it helps to bloom different plants that are large consumers of sunlight. But now it is a bit dark on the edge and therefore we have the opportunity to see the canvas without blinding our eyes. And there is all the diversity of forest
First of all, the grass, it is presented here in different shades: from dark green to light yellow. That is, we can assume that we fell into the August forest. The crown on the trees is dark green, saturated. Through the trees, by the way, one more glade is visible, which is illuminated by the sun. That is, autumn clouds probably already roam in the sky. And all this is not a frozen picture on the canvas. All this is breathing, the feeling is that all this is filled with vital energy.
Shishkin had such a talent, which is not given to every artist. Even a simple thing, even if not alive, he could revive and do something amazing on the canvas – make him believe that it is moving. Of course, this is a purely visual effect, our imagination, but what a power! Perhaps that is why the artist’s paintings are still so popular that even children and those can easily guess the author. And this is already a recognition, which the author has more than enough during his lifetime and now the field of his departure comes back.
