The picture was painted when the artist was in Italy with the aim of learning and improving his skills. Bryullov tried to find beauty in everyday things and transfer it to the canvas.

The painting depicts a harvest scene. The girl in the center collects the grapes in a basket that hangs on her left hand. In order to reach the next bunch, she had to turn around, stand on her toes, grab hold of a pole and reach out her right hand to the grapes, slightly leaning back. The girl looks as if frozen in a dance. She is graceful and graceful. Perhaps the girl even sings some Italian song and moves to the beat of the drum.

The second girl lies on the steps. Head it rests on a large green pumpkin. In the hands of her tambourine. The girl lightly strikes him. She looks like she was dancing, tired and lay down to rest in the shade of a vine. The face of the girl lying coquettishly and playfully. The hair of the heroines are collected, but

At the bottom right, a water stream hits the source, adding movement to the picture. In the background is a donkey harnessed, the outlines of bushes, trees and mountains are visible.

The artist marks out the center of the picture with shades of red: these are girls’ clothes, a tambourine, a coral necklace, a blush. The white color of the clothes gives a glow that reflects the bright Italian sun. Framing a picture of shades of green and ocher: the vine, bushes and trees, pumpkin, a source of water and land.

The light clothes of the characters in the picture convey the warmth of the Italian summer. The girl in the center through her thin fabric shine her slender legs. And for a lying girl, the blouse falls off, slightly exposing the white bosom. And it is not at all noticeable that the girls are busy with hard work.
