Description of the painting by Georges Braque House in Estac

Georges Braque – the famous artist from France since 1908 decisively departed from the early fascination with impressionism and the subsequent work in the style of Fauvism. His new interest, reflecting the dominant trends in Europe in the art of art, was revolutionary cubism.

Calm picturesque sea coast – port Estak in Marseille – a favorite paradise place by many artists. Yielded to the charm of this quiet harbor and the painter Braque. Captivated by the ideas of cubism, he painted landscapes of nature and urban scenes. Squares and rectangles of residential areas of the port city could not be better suited for writing cubic scenes. “House in Estac” – one of these works.

The picture shows how fascinating the master was spatial geometry, and how carefully he studied the construction of perspectives. For the basis of each image of the house, Marriage took the shape of a cube, but using the effect

of darkening, he achieved illusory smoothing of volume.

Sandy, angular, low-rise buildings look flat on the canvas thanks to the clever play of light. Branches and leaves of trees at the upper corners of the picture look bulky and geometric, in harmony with the houses accumulated in the composite center and going somewhere far beyond the boundaries of the drawing.

The summer spent in Estaka gave the world of art a series of six canvases made in the style of cubism. However, they were not immediately taken by public by the public, like everything truly brilliant. The artist exhibits paintings in his personal exhibition, where his acquaintance with the new course in painting prepared the audience for contemplating and welcoming in the future more radical visual decisions.

“House in Estates” is a significant creation of Braque, which played a significant role in the development of cubism and its recognition by critics and artists of other directions.
